Description
This steel Tom Colvin Gazelle Junk Rig was purchased with plans for a refit and an adventurous southern journey, but life’s direction has since changed. Over the last few years, significant upgrades have been made to ensure she’s ready for her next adventure. The boat has undergone extensive work, including a recent sandblasting and new hull paint. The topsides were completely repainted last year, and the standing rigging has been replaced with 5/16" stainless steel. New halyards and Garmin radar have been installed, and the helm has been upgraded with Morse controls for easier handling. Additional upgrades include a 66 lb Bruce-style anchor with 300 ft of 3/8" chain, and a fairly new 10 ft Zodiac with a Honda 5 hp outboard. The interior redesign is nearly complete with a new headliner for better insulation, and the electrical system has been rewired to meet ABYC standards. New additions include a solar panel with an MPPT controller, a 75W Victron inverter, and a new manual head. All thru-hulls have been replaced with proper seacocks for added safety. The galley features a gimballed propane stove and oven, foot pumps* for both fresh and saltwater, and a drop-in fridge with a small freezer. The aft cabin makeover is nearly finished, and the engine room houses a Perkins 50 with fewer than 500 hours. For convenience, the engine room is equipped with built-in aluminum tool drawers – a practical addition for any sailor. While there’s much more to this project, these upgrades make her a fantastic opportunity for someone ready to finish the vision and take her sailing. If you have questions or want more details, feel free to reach out!
