Description

This 1977 Frers 42 is a seaworthy aluminum-hulled racer-cruiser project, for sale in Sterling, Massachusetts. A rare German Frers 42 masthead sloop with an aluminum hull, built for a Buenos Aires racing syndicate in 1977 to IOR rules and sailed by the current owner around Boston Harbor, the Massachusetts islands, and the Gulf of Maine to Bar Harbor. Last in the water in 2012, she needs interior finishing and reconditioning of her Perkins 4-108 diesel. Extremely stable and able to heave-to in heavy weather, she carries a 65-foot mast on massive chainplates and heavy rod rigging, wheel steering with an auxiliary tiller, a heavy skeg-hung rudder, and a folding bronze propeller. Her 9,000 lb lead keel draws 6'6", and an exhaustive sail inventory includes 11 headsails plus mainsail for sailing in all weather. She measures 42' LOA, 13' beam and 6' draft, with two cabins, an aluminum hull and masthead sloop rig. Asking $9,900. Contact the seller for full details or to arrange a viewing.
