Description
This 1983 Freedom 21 Shoal Draft is an easily-handled pocket weekender in excellent condition, for sale in St. Petersburg, Florida. Built around a freestanding carbon-fiber mast with no stays or chainplates, this Freedom 21 is designed from the ground up for shorthanded sailing, with every line led aft to the cockpit. Single-line reefing and lazy-jacks let you reef from safety, and even the spinnaker can be set, flown, and doused without leaving the cockpit; she also sails well under main alone. A tabernacle mast hinge at the deck makes lowering the rig and trailering easy (no trailer included). The 2.5-foot draft opens up the shallow waters around Tampa Bay, and new sails with a custom 113% jib make her quicker than a standard Freedom 21. With plenty of storage, oversized ground tackle, bunks for four, and a freshwater sink, she is a capable pocket weekender. An owner who is a mechanical engineer has rebuilt and optimized every system, leaving her turnkey for daysailing, weekending, or light racing. She measures 21' LOA, 8' beam and 2.5' draft, with one cabin, a fiberglass hull and fractional sloop rig. Asking $9,500. Contact the seller for full details or to arrange a viewing.
